Rhonda is a multi-instrumentalist with over 30 years of music experience. She is currently a Music Therapy Assistant with Rhythm Music Therapy and a Support Worker who specialises in music. She plays saxophone, clarinet, piano and a variety of other woodwind and brass instruments.

Rhonda certainly has lived experience of working with individuals with disabilities and is returning to work after being a full-time carer for her son who is an NDIS participant. She is a single mother of 2 children ~ one teenage boy who is autistic and has an intellectual disability, as well as another teen who has just finished high school and is studying music psychology to become a music therapist. A passion for music therapy indeed runs in this family!

Rhonda is passionate about music therapy, and music in general, and is especially driven to share this with individuals of all ages and abilities. Rhonda’s son has been a Rhythm Music Therapy client since 2017. The only therapy he will participate in is music therapy ~ it’s his "thing." Rhonda loves the positive effect that music has in promoting and developing health and wellbeing.

Rhonda is currently the bandleader & saxophonist of a Wynnum-based jazz band and plays tuba in Qld Show Band. Rhonda has returned to study so that she can complete the courses & receive the pieces of paper for what she does anyway! She is currently studying a Bachelor of Music (Jazz Performance) on Tenor Saxophone at the Jazz Music Institute and has experience working with and teaching people with disabilities.

Rhonda’s myriad of experiences come from both personal and professional backgrounds including Highland Dancing Teaching, private music teaching, and being a Qld Police Officer where among many things, Rhonda worked in the crime prevention unit where she was one of the State LGBTI liaison officers.

On weekends, you will find Rhonda performing and/or playing music, cooking (she loves her Thermomix!), watching  Netflix and chilling with the kids and their energetic Labradoodle Assistance Dog (in training!).
