Lauren is a passionate and dedicated music therapist who graduated with a Master of Music Therapy from the University of Melbourne in 2022, and is currently completing a Master of Counselling at University of Canberra. Before commencing her postgraduate studies, she completed a Bachelor of Music, majoring in Classical Trumpet Performance at the Queensland Conservatorium. During her studies, Lauren regularly performed with university ensembles, professional orchestras and community groups, honing her skills as both a soloist and ensemble musician. Aside from her extensive knowledge and expertise in brass instruments, Lauren now enjoys guitar, singing, ukulele and piano.

Lauren has played with many groups and orchestras including the Queensland Symphony Orchestra, Queensland Pops Orchestra, Brisbane Philharmonic Orchestra, her own brass quintet (Edgey Brass), and was solo cornet with the Brisbane Brass A Grade Band for many years. She has also shared her expertise as Head of Upper Brass at St Margaret’s Anglican College and Head of Brass at Mt St Michael’s College. While Lauren deeply values her performance and teaching experiences, she discovered that her true passion lies in using music as a vehicle to support others in achieving their goals, realising their potential and connecting with others.

Lauren’s clinical approach is grounded in neuro-affirming, strengths-based practice that celebrates client identity and autonomy. She enjoys exploring how the brain and body processes and responds to music and in particular, how rhythm supports co-regulation, motor control and interpersonal connection. Lauren strives for a structured yet flexible approach, tailored to individual and collective goals.

Outside of work, Lauren loves travelling, team sports, climbing, hiking, listening to podcasts, and spending quality time with friends. She is also an animal lover and adores her dog, Murphy, who is also a therapy assistant at Rhythm.
