Empowering individuals through music.
Alex Bartetzko
Therapy Assistant

BMusSci (Psych Honours)
MMusThy. (In Progress)

Alex completed a dual Bachelor's degree in music and science, with a major in psychology in 2024, and she is currently studying her Master of Music Therapy, due to be completed in 2026. Alex has been passionate about becoming a music therapist since middle school, when she discovered she could combine her love of music and psychology, realising the joy of supporting someone to reach their full potential through the enjoyment of music.
As a neurodiverse individual, Alex passionately utilises a holistic, comprehensive and personalised approach to her private music tutoring, using her shared lived experiences to engage with her students who have a wide range of backgrounds, ages and abilities.

Alex started piano at the age of 6 and is grateful for the opportunity to have had private lessons at the Young Conservatorium for 7 years. During her time there, she participated in various ensembles such as the symphony orchestra and string orchestra for violin, and the concert choir. From a young age, Alex has enjoyed performing with these groups and as a soloist at aged care facilities and hospitals. Singing and choirs have remained a passion of Alex’s, who currently sings in a semi-professional cathedral choir and has been in many university choirs, including one that produced professional CDs played on the radio. Recently, while studying on exchange in Manchester in England, Alex participated in three choirs of very different styles, including Barbershop and enjoyed delving into the centuries-old musical tradition of folk music for the first time with yet another music group. While in Manchester, Alex also had the privilege to initiate and organise a sign language choir that performed Christmas carols in the city markets to spread joy and awareness.

As a part of her university studies for piano, Alex has also enjoyed learning the trumpet, cello and guitar. In 2022, Alex completed her research honours in music psychology.

Like many in the Rhythm team, Alex also has a dog, whose name is Mochi, like the dessert! Mochi comes running to listen whenever Alex starts singing or playing musical instruments.
