Where person-centred therapy meets dog behaviour and training, creating a holistic program tailored to you and your best friend.

The Story Behind Therapals

Where two worlds meet.

Combining her expertise in human therapy, with her passion and experience in dog behaviour and training, Kassie Sofia (Director of Rhythm Music Therapy) has a new exclusive service that she is offering people and their four-legged friends.

With over 12 years experience as a Registered Music Therapist (RMT) working with vulnerable demographics and NDIS participants, Kassie has already spent many years gaining skills and expertise in incorporating inclusive, trauma-informed approaches when working with each unique person she meets. She has also studied and worked in the education sector, having an understanding of how detrimental an individuals learning style and needs are to achieve success in a learning environment.

Kassie has always had a passion for animals, having been fortunate to grow up forming a close bond with many dogs, cats, birds, mice, and even a horse! She truly values and respects the influence that animals can have upon a human's life having experienced it herself. In particular, Kassie formed a remarkable bond with her golden retriever and qualified therapy dog Monte, and in doing so, discovered how a close bond with an animal can foster a deeper connection with ourselves. She could also see the undeniable impact that Monte had upon the lives of those he met in therapy sessions ~ seeing the way that animal assisted therapy can enhance growth, confidence and emotional connection for everyone he met.

After returning to study a Cert IV in Animal Behaviour & Training (Delta Institute) in 2024, Kassie has now taken the leap to combine her two passions ~ working with vulnerable people and their dogs. She is excited to be able to provide an inclusive, nurturing, therapeutic environment for humans and dogs alike, with each training program tailored to their needs. Therapals provides a holistic experience where dog guardians receive personalised therapy whilst also learning how to understand dog behaviour and train their dog to become their best friend.

Kassie believes that, "By better understanding yourself and your own needs, whilst developing an understanding of your best friend, this can lead to a unique and beautiful bond between you and your beloved pet."
